installing after market radio, which interface do i need?

i have a h2 2004 and replaced the factory radio by a kenwood. i don't know if this model year has a bose premium system or the standard bose system, since i have got different answers on that topic. some call it also the lux bose and the non lux bose, but i don't know which one of them ist the premium bose system.
i live in europe an therefore have no onstar. i don't know if it has never been installed or taken out later.

we tried different interfaces from pac (including the os2), but didn't manage to get the original chime (through the bose speakers) to work. is the chime produced by the amp? which interface do i need and what could be the reason that the chime doesn't work?

the pac c2r produces a quite terrible chime by itsself but that's not what i want.

has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?

I think the Axxess GMOS-04 would solve your problem. Do some research but I am pretty sure this will work for you regardless of which system you have. You may also want/need and interface to retain your factory steering wheel controls.

the non-lux is the plain system, no amp.....the lux system is the Y91 option, which you can read in your glove box whether you have it or not....it's on the little white code box that's attached in the glove box....hope this helps

Look at the lineup from PAC interfaces. A good site for purchasing is www.logjamelectronics.com

Good Luck

New kenwood models started shipping last month...what did you end up getting?

I'm waiting for a DNX9140 to show up on my doorstep :)

So I am bidding on a 06 Nav system on Ebay. Will it fit and work on my 03

i got my kenwood allready in january, it is a dnx8220bt.

i wrote some mails to pac and also metra. it looks like pac doesn't have an interface for my hummer that retains the factory chime. but the metra axxess gmos-04 interface should work, referring to metra. the interface retains the factory chime, with or without onstar, as long as it's a factory amplified system. and i have an amplifier under the central console for sure. thanks for the infos.

The gmos-04 interface is a piece of crap! Lots of speaker pop and alternator whine. I have the Kenwood 7100 Nav and will be pulling the gmos-04 interface and bose system out and wiring up aftermarket components. I'm yanking the onstar and don't give a hoot about the door chimes. I want to hear good quality sound coming from the speakers and you definitely don't get that with the interface installed. TRUST ME!

For how much did you get your Kenwood dude? I also want to rant that the gmos-04 interface was terribly annoying. Just got my hands on it last Tuesday.
