Replacing Air Compressor
Hey everyone. I'm new to this and a bit of an automotive retard so please bear with me. I am hoping someone can steer me to a posting explaining how to change the air compressor in a 2004 H2.
The story: I have been having issues with the rear air deflating after parking for a while. It would always pump up when I started driving. This went on for a few months, but I just never got around to checking it out (I know...retard...like I said). . I started hearing more and more air hissing out of the compressor in the back. It helped when I tightened the nipple but one day nipple actually shot off when I was driving (scared the hell out of me:giggling: ) I replaced the plastic nipple with a metal one...not thinking that this whole issue may actually just be a leaky valve. Well after months of constantly pumping, the compressor finally gave out and I officially have a low rider in the back. I took it to the dealership after 2 kidney jarring days of driving it like that. They smoke tested the airbags and they appear to be ok. They said the compressor is definitely fried and want over $2K to replace it. I looked online and the part is only about $300. Although I haven't had a lot of experience, I am good at following instructions. So like I said, if anyone knows of a good diy posting (preferrably with pictures), I'd sure appreciate it. |
Re: Replacing Air Compressor
Rigs, What part are you changing that cost $300.00, The module cost about that amount, is that it ? Let me know cause I am pretty sure the 03 and 04 use the same compressor unless it was upgraded to the newer one but if it is the same as the 03 I might be able to post some pics to help ya install the part. Even if you get it back together though I think you have to get it calibrated at the dealership with the Scan II tool. Others here may know better, but at least I can post some pics if I know what it is that you are replacing.
