Window Vent Visors
Curious about what everyone out there uses, in-channel or stick on vent visors for the H2. I am having a hard time deciding since I am not too familiar with the in-channel style.

Re: Window Vent Visors
I got the in channel type and like them. Been on the truck for five years now and no complaints, well they are dark and hard to see through cause they hit me eye level.

Re: Window Vent Visors
Thanks for the input, i'll go with the in-channel style. Your input was greatly appreciated

Re: Window Vent Visors
Yup, in channel ! The stick ons can fly off and they just dont look as nice or finished as the in-channel. The In channels look like a factory option.

Re: Window Vent Visors
I bought the in channel. They also help keep mud out of your eyes.:)

When the wife and I were first shopping for these, we were both very confused too about which style was better. After comparing countless of trucks with both styles we both decided on the in-channel. Funny caus we still were not too sure at that point. A few weeks passed with them on and it was amazing and so clear to us how bad and cheesy the outer channel ones are. I can not even imagine them on a Hummer and when the color of the car is not black and someone sticks the outer ones on, yow... It's not even a matter of opinion anymore, people who like the outer ones are just plain wrong:) |
Re: Window Vent Visors
thefinestimage, easy ed, and others of course, what brand do you have? I have been searching the last hour for the AVS in channel ones and they no longer make them for the H2! That is what I had last time and they looked great, look to be the same as your pictures. I just found Putco makes them too but they do not seem as flat as the AVS, Putco seem more rounded?

Thank you Ed...Wow the hours I possibly spent for nothing last night, going through every website and eaby and the part #94329 AVS has for them most if not all showed up as outer mount. Pep Boys, Autozone, Advanced Auto etc, all had the same # and I went there in person and they even even had a photo showing them as outer mount and they said the inner is no longer available. Years ago when I put them on my 05 and 07 there were two different part numbers (and prices) and now there is only one... A call to AVS customer service this morning hopefully solves it as the girl told me that part # is for in-channel. She didn't sound too sure but I am going to order them through Autozone or somewhere and will post back, but I am hopefull... By the way for others, I personally found the AVS brand to be superior to the other brands. I think they actually invented them... |
Re: Window Vent Visors
A lot of the sites I visited just had a generic pic of them, some were shown on a Chevy Blazer and mounted on the outside even though I typed in the model and year correctly
So I looked at the receipt I had from Teaka Toys (appears they do not sell the AVS anymore) and got the part number off it and then typed in "Auto Ventshade Ventvisor 94329" in Google search and came up with the site showing them actually installed on the H2. Good Luck, Ed Quote:

Re: Window Vent Visors
Mine are AVS. Bought them at a local parts store for cheap.

Re: Window Vent Visors
Took a chance, ordered them from Autozone, they got them for me in one day... Auto Ventshade Ventvisor 94329 are indeed the inner-channel ones even though their computer showed up as outer-channel with an outer pic... Nice!

Re: Window Vent Visors
So how do you install these in-channel ones?

There is 3m tape on one side of them, the give you alchohol pads to clean the inside of the window jam, then you insert them in while peeling the tape off. Very easy, takes minutes... there is an instruction pamphlet that comes with it too... |

OK thanks! Just checking if there was drilling involved and/or removal of panels and such. So it's straight up just 3M tape? |

yup a very thin strip for that matter and somehow those suckers manage to stay on even though they are attached to the felt... that stuff is great, never had a problem on any of my cheap stick-on Hummer accessories... |
