shifter assy?

so this is the first auto vechicle ive ever owned. i need to take the shifter off. any advice on how to tackle this? really dont need to be breaking anything else one the wifes truck:confused:

If you are talking about the lever on the console a 2003 takes a #15 Torx wrench, back it out a number of turns and pull the lever up and off.
