Been watching the site for a while, finally signed up. Always wanted a H2, when I finally drove one, I was hooked. Here for good advice and great ideas for the H2.

Welcome Yeti! This is a great forum and I have found a lot of help and guidance here. I, like you, am relatively new to H2 ownership and the folks here are great.

thanks everyone. I'm looking to get meatier tires hopefully by the end of the year and maybe swap out the stereo deck. Really like the look of those Nitto Mud Grapplers. I have 17's BTW. I want to swap out the battery with an Optima really soon anyone know which to get/ RED or Yellow. Mines not bad, but the woman needs a new one and I thought I'd put my current one in her's.

Richard, How was the fit on the red top? Did it hook right in on the battery plate or did you have to find a way to strap it in?

I feel there's a "Thats what she said" coming up. :giggling:

Congratulations and Welcome! I had an Optima Red Top and it failed in my H2 after 8 months. It also doesn't have the cranking amps or reserve that the cheaper Sears International Heavy Duty battery has. I've had good luck with Optimas on boats, but this is the second to fail in an offroad vehicle - maybe it's just bad luck??

Mine bolted in in the factory area like an original so there was no problems.

It has plenty of cold cranking amps and reserve and I do run the 4 KC lights every chance I get.
They have great warranties and I have never had trouble with mine.

Keep in mind your are in Florida not Washington State. And when its cold outside you need Cold Cranking Amps. The only way I would run optimas in my H2 is if I did a dual setup.

Don't get me wrong the optima IMO is a great battery. In fact I have them in my boat. But they just do not make one big enough for a H2. So if you go with an optima go with a dual set up.

2 Redtops will fit in your factory battery location with some trimming of your battery tray.
