Trouble installing green keys.

Anyone have a hard time installing the green keys? I am not able to crank the torsion bars enough to slide the keepers in. The factory keys are easy enough to load but the green keys won't turn high enough to slide in the keepers. Also I will mention I am not using the torsion bar tool, I tried loading the key with a c clamp (I snapped the c clamp) then tried a bottle jack but wound up lifting the truck. So at this point I figure I need the tool which I can't find locally. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Trouble installing green keys.

you can use a craftsman gear puller #46903 to remove and install keys as i did with no problems. Be warned that this is not the correct tool but will work just fine with caution.Do not use a smaller puller or you will put yourself in danger. The correct tool was in last post but this will save you some cash and do not be in a rush check the lips to make sure of positive contact with frame rail when tension is cranked and do not work directly underneath tool as there is allot of tension being applied to release keys.

They will go in with the right tool. Thats How I did mine. A big impact gun will make it much easier to do as well. Are you sure your local autoparts store does not have one to rent?
