Speedometer in 05

My speedometer is messed up. Two days ago when I got in it was on 50mph when I took off it moved as I accelerated at a normal rate, but it was off by 50mph. Today it was down to 30mph when I got in still moves when I accelerate just off 30mph now. Has anyone else had this issue in their H2? Was this a recall that I missed? I am aware that there has been a similar problem in Silverado's, was told by a friend it may be the "step motor" and I would need a whole new instrument panel about $500.

Thanks Ed! Was hoping to hear there was a recall because my Hummer dealer will not budge $500 at least is my quote. Think I will just do it myself.

Just had my Temp Gauge stepper go bad. Since it's a common problem with the 03 to 06 steppers I had them all replaced by sending the Cluster Assy to:
DIGITAL DASH SOLUTIONS 1143 North Rd Dayville, Ct. 06241
1-860-583-0629 FAX 1-860-383-8830 digital_dash_solutions@comcast.net
He advertises on eBay and will replace 1 motor for $90 or all motors and lights for $170 and has over 4300 positive feedbacks. He has a one day turn around and does good work. It's easy to remove the cluster...just 6 screws....and you can still drive your truck with it removed....I used my GPS for a speedometer while he was fixing it.
