Chrome gas door peeling again.
Anyone having any triouble with this. I got my original one replaced last year on warrenty because it bubbled and peeled. just last night when i was filling up I noticed the new one was peeling again. I think the cover is a cheap cast material. they seem to start peeling during the winter with all salt and crap on the road and truck. i try my best to keep the H2 fairly clean but you can only do so much during the winter. nyhow I was thinking about changing it out to a powder coated black one. Does powder coating resist the elements better? I was looking at this one. Anyone have any other suggestions.

Re: Chrome gas door peeling again.
I had that on one of mine. I sold to a freind and it did the same thing. But my Real Wheels locking fuel door was next to bullet proof.
If they don;t warranty it, I would go that route. You can get them in locking or non-locking. I just put a locking one today on the SUT. 5 minute install! Done, and feel a little better about some tree hugger putting something in the tank. |
Re: Chrome gas door peeling again.
I'll have to check out the real wheels one. Is powder coat much more durable?

Re: Chrome gas door peeling again.
mine started last year i think it has to do with the ruff area around the hummer name ,had the whole gas cap been smooth when chromed i don't think there would have been a problem.does anyone no if you can have the gas door re chromed maybe to a better quality.
