need suggestions for 37" spare
I have a Toyo 37 inch spare on a 20" rim, prior to towing I had a rear rack which I would leave the spare on. I purchased a toy hauler and the spare hits the front jack so I had to remove it. Now I have it sitting in the back area and it takes up way too much space.
I have the option of leaving the rear rack on and removing the spare each time I tow which would be a PIA. I was considering getting a GOBI rack and leaving the spare on the roof but those racks are about 2k and the tire seems quite heavy. Maybe I can just leave the tire on the roof using the factory roof rack and secure it that way? If I let it sit up there would it get damaged sitting in the sun? Any thoughts? |
Re: need suggestions for 37" spare
Buy some sort of rack. GOBI is one of the better ones out there. I've had a few.
DON'T try to strap that tire to the roof rails!!! The last thing you want is a 35" tire bouncing down the freeway!!!! There is a GOBI sport rack that holds only the tire. It is cheaper that the full length. Frenzy has this rack. Some sort of rack is what you need....if you don;t park in a low garage. |

Looked into the roof rack, decided to throw in the towel and buy a diesel truck! Better mpg, higher tow capacity, safer for towing, etc. I ll still keep the h2 though. |
Re: need suggestions for 37" spare
I have my 37" spare on the roof. lol. You know a Gobi rack is allot less money than a new diesel truck! lol. But I gotta say you did it right. You will be much happier towing that thing with diesel than a H2.

He decided to mount it on the roof of his diesel truck. Now he always has his H2 37" spare with him when he tows his toy hauler. |
Re: need suggestions for 37" spare
Actually I decided not to get the truck (cant afford it now, nor do I have the space) and simply remove the spare tire from the rear rack every time I tow. Only takes 2 minutes to remove and have the system where I life the tire by myself....
