what would you do with a spare tire?
 

so awhile ago i purchased 5 - 37x12.5 BFG M/T KM2 tires.

i bought 4 rims, and had 4 tires mounted.
since then, the 5th tire has been sitting in my garage.. brand new...
i have put maybe about 10k miles on my H2 with the tires on them.. while there is some wear on them, its not too back.. maybe about 1/4 is the difference from the new to used...

would you

A: get a new rim and mount the tire just to have a spare
B: get a new rim and mount tire and put on the vehicle and get it in the rotation
C: hold on to the tire unless its time to get new tires and either but 3 of the same, or a new set and sell the spare off?


personally, i am thinking of just getting a new rim and adding it to the rotation. i just dont know if the wear on the other tires is so much that it isnt going to really help by adding a new tire.

I would wait till they wear out. Then buy 3 new tires.... Then save your best tire from the old set and use it as a spare.

humm. i always have 5 identical, and rotate. not the best to have a spare that is of different dia.

if it were mine? you asked.... get a 5th wheel to match, mount the tire and have it made the same dia as the other 4...... then rotate all 5.

while the tires are/were decent looking, they sucked hard in the winter time.

so not sure i want to drop $1500+ on 3 more tires when the time comes.

so, while i do need a spare, im trying to fight the urge to go out and buy a new rim to mount this tire on. while i will get some use out of it, i think it is beyond the point where it doesnt make sense to waste this tire on this rim.

i might as well wait till i need new tires all the way around, and then sell off this tire at a big discount.
