Torque management?
Ok, first off I notice a big difference in power and torque in my 2005 H2 compared to me 2006 Envoy XL with the inline 6. (no duh!) However, I notice that when I punch it from a stop it has the same sort of "dead" feeling as the Envoy had. The power really starts to pull hard once it is moving and the rpms get up just a bit. I am guessing that this is due to the GM torque management? I had a PCMforless tune done on my Envoy, and it really changed that a lot.
Is there a prefered tuner for these H2's? I see the name Nelson comes up a lot. What is the general experience with tunes and removing TM? |
Re: Torque management?
Have it completely removed especially if you are going to do any kind of engine mods. Nelson is one of the best.

Re: Torque management?
Several people have put the Corvette C6 servos in their H2 transmissions and been very happy with the results, with a crisper shift and more immediate acceleration. Not sure what it's going to do to the longevity of your transmission though.

Re: Torque management?
Diable Sport Predator programmer allows you to disable it. There are 3 TM modes. You only want to disable 2 of the 3 modes or you will need to upgrade the tranny so you don't burn it up the clutch bands. Here is how I have mine set and these are the Diablo suggested settings:
Torque Management: -TM Abuse ModeTime Limit - Off -% Tq Reduction vs RPM - Off -Upshift Tq Reduction - On |
Re: Torque management?
Thanks for the tips, guys. I have been doing a lot of searching in here, and it seems that the top choices for tuning are either the Predator programer or Nelson Performance. My truck has an extended warranty, so the predator might be the better way since I can make it stock if I need to take it in?

Re: Torque management?
Nelson makes a tune for the predator:)
