Four Wheeling on 22in wheels and lower profile tires bad idea?

My new to me H2 has 22 in wheels and low enough profile tires to maintain the stock height. So less rubber than stock. Big concern if doing moderate four wheeling? I am thinking that I should pick up a set of OEM wheels/tires for "off-road" excursions. Any thoughts? My rig really has too much chrome for the dirt, but we are heading up to the pines this weekend and I have to get her dirty. Nothing too crazy but I have to drop her into 4W low and engage the rear locker.

get stock ones if you can.. Otherwise, be ready to get your 22's all scratched up.. Plus, you dont want to have your truck posted on youtube on a H2 with low profile tires going wheelin'... It just isnt right... :beerchug:

If you don't want broken or bent rims, then I would get a set of stock rims and tires for offroading.

Eh I beg to differ on having to swap out our wheels. I also think you will be suprised how much you can do with your truck without locking the rear and putting it into 4lo.

I run 20s on my rig and have run sevearl trips which were strictly rock crawling. I have little to no rock rash on my rims and my rims are 10in wide. A narrower rim will have even more protection(from the tires), just air down and youll be fine. If you are just going to play in mud I wouldnt worry about.

Driving down a dirt or gravel road on 22's is one thing, but anything more demanding you risk damaging your rims. Besides, it will make others shake their head in disapproval. You can be sure some Jeep guy will post a pic of you on a Jeep forum.

I see stock wheels and tires on Craig's List all the time for very cheap prices. That's where I would go.

I run my rig at Rausch Creek and Wharton(The Pines) all the time and I have 37x13.50x22 tires. When are you going to the pines because we have about 14 Hummers going next weekend June 4th weekend.

Ooops. I meant the pines in Arizona. Desert dweller speak for escaping the heat. Have a great time!
