Rear upper vent covers

I'm sitting here at work wondering what is under the rear upper vent covers. I have the chrome ones that are all ripped up from salt and need to take them off to prep for powder coating. Is it just plastic under there and will it be ok to drive around without them for a few days?

Should I go black or color matched white?!

There are little vents under there that have flaps. I might worry if it was pretty rainy. Not sure how much pressure it would take to push open one of those flaps. I'm guessing not much. I know my rig kicks up a lot of water. Mine were attatched with 2 of those star allen screws when you open the hatch and two clips.

I'm lead to believe these are cab pressure relief vents?
