I flew to Dallas to be in one of the caravans to Crawford to support our troops, their mission, and the President. It was definitely an
outstanding experience. There were at least 100 cars in our caravan and we drove 120 miles. People came out on their lawns to wave to us. People driving along side and driving toward us would wave and give thumbs up. No one I saw was opposed to us. Some came to Crawford in Mercedes and Cadillacs. Some came in pick-up trucks, sedans, mini-vans [I saw one H2]. Some came on motorcycles. When we got there, everyone came together. The rally at Crawford lasted two hours and was definitely inspiring. Speakers related how the troops' mission is noble and deserves our support. One speaker mentioned that Al Jazeera carries Cindy Sheehan's statements because they give aid and comfort to the enemy -- who is losing the war. The moderator pointed out that Cindy Sheehan's son Casey is a hero and we should all grieve for and with his mother. He then asked for a moment of silence for Casey Sheehan -- -- you could hear a pin drop. Mothers and fathers who had lost sons in the war spoke of how they had volunteered to do what they believed in. Some of these parents have additional sons and/or daughters deploying to Iraq or Afghanistan. These families are true American heroes and they are the reason we all enjoy freedom. I didn't take any photos with an eye to documenting the event, but I'm attaching one showing part of the crowd behind me -- -- I'm the one giving thumbs up. The very nice gentleman in the white Stetson is a fellow veteran and his father, who was present to lend support, was a WW II prisoner of war of the Japanese. Meeting them was a real high point for me. Later in the day, a lady engineer standing next to me divided the tent into ten sections by eye, counted the people in a couple of those sections, looked at the people around the tent, and estimated the crowd at about 3,000. I wouldn't argue with her. The crowd included everything from children to people in their 80s. Every ethnic group was represented. I would say about 30% were veterans and the rest were troops/veterans supporters. I was privileged to spend a great day with them. George SSSS |

I was interviewed by a local talk radio program because I came from California. The event seemed to be well covered by the mass media. George SSSS |

It's too bad there's other big news this week.
Then the mainstream media wouldn't have a "real" reason to ignore your efforts. ![]() |
