Need help with yet more light selections

Here's what I have now-

8 PIAA 510 drivings mounted on a roof rack (in the works, but it must be considered)

4 PIAA 520 SMR on a Warn light bar mounted to the brush guard.

I could make these fogs or driving since one set has the SMR fog lenses and the other set has the driving light lenses, but would take a yellow PIAA fog light just fine since they'd be accompanied by a set of true SMR fog lenses.

HID head lamps.

I want to do something with the DRL slots. I'm really looking at these-

http://www.TeakaToys.com/HUMMER_H2_H...1-9039-50x.htm

And then putting these-

http://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/ser...VERSION/Detail

in the lenses. I would put a 3000k yellow fog HID bulb in.

I'm thinking that with HIDs in the main lights, and HID fogs in the DRL slot that I would have all the light I need for any driving situation and at this point there would be little need for the PIAAs a side from the look or the times when off road or??

So I'd like your opinion on this-

Should I make all of my PIAAs driving lights for nights on trails or on the beach?

Should I keep the 4 brush guard lights fogs and the roof lights driving?

I have all these lights and simply don't know what bulbs I should put in all of them.

I'm leaning towards having one switch control all PIAAs and putting driving lights in all of them. And another switch control the DRL HID fog setup.

What do you guys think? I'm open to suggestions.

As far as converting the lights to HID make sure you have enough depth to fit the HID bulb they are typically longer then regular halogens. I have dealt with these guys http://www.xtremehids.com/index.php in the past and have been happy with the product and pricing.

I would keep all the upper lights driving with one switch. Split the brush guard lights 2 fog 2 driving with the 2 driving linked to a separate switch and my high beams(just use some relays and diodes) and have the fogs on a separate switch that way you have a lot of different configurations you can do. As far as the DRLs just make sure the reflectors can handle the HID output sometimes for fogs HIDs can be too strong and throw off the beam pattern if the bulb placement is off.

Thanks!

I like the idea of having two of the grill lights come on with the brights. I'd go with four PIAA 520 driving bulbs on the brush guard with two of them coming on with the brights as well as coming on with a switch that controls the other two PIAA brush guard lights.

That would give me control over the light bar, the 4 brush guards, and then another switch I'd have to add for the HID fogs.

Keeping the other two fogs on the brush guard just seems senseless the more I think about it.

With the current HID headlights the two current two PIAA 520 fogs are already useless. Add a set of HID fogs in the DRL location and I just can't see any reason to keep the brush guard lights fogs of any kind.

Still wanting more ideas!

Forget the "PIAA". Thats like a northface jacket...."trendy".

Go with lightforce. Ever watch ice road truckers or storm chasers? See those lights? All lightforce.

What do they run on the road trains in AU? Lightforce.

Not saying PIAA lights suck, but I cant say enough good things about lighforce lights. Been using them for years.....

Thanks but I already have PIAAs.

Think I'm going to set up all grill guard lights to go on with brights and separate switch.

Does anyone have any tips for wiring the PIAAs to the brights and a separate switch?

Would you just tap the switch trigger line off the PIAA relay and connect to the brights "hot" wire?

Setup is 4 PIAAs on the brush guard. 1 PIAA relay for each set.

All four on with the brights and separate control with a switch.

offtopic but just wanted to say thanks to pdxrealtor. i saw your thread a while back with mounting the piaa510s to the roof bar and i thought it looked great. so i mounted 4 piaa 520s on the stock bar (2 hugging each side, with space in the middle) and it works great.
IMO if your thinking about how much light you need, i think lots of driving lights is usefull, but more than 2 fogs is a lil overkill unless your just going for looks. HID the stock fogs and wire up those 510 driving lights and youll be in business.

Glad I could help! Got any pics... I'd love to see your end result!

I still have my rack bar for later on in the HUMMERs life, or???

For now I have the 4 PIAA 520 SMRs on the front grill with a warn light mount.
HID in the headlights
HID in Delta series DRL replacement housings.

Thanks DRTY-- someone mentioned a resistor earlier in the thread and it kind of threw us for a loop!
