H2. How rare and the public perception stateside??
As the title says.Just wondering how rare they are over your side and what the public think of them??. Over here in the UK you will only find about 20-30 on sale at any time.Contrary to the global press war on the Hummer. I have only recieved good comments. Lots of people wanting a ride in it. And quite a few wanting a picture taken next to it.
A lot ask about the fuel consumption. But on the whole i get good comments. What about you guys......? My H2 which i like as stock. Never been a fan of the big wheels with skinny tyres on them.... ![]() Along side my 42 Ford GPW ![]() And alongside my Vette and Ram. |
Re: H2. How rare and the public perception stateside??
I wouldn't use the term rare, but uncommon yes; At least where I'm from anyway. I get a lot of negative comments on other car forums I'm on, but never in person. I do however get the, "don't you know gas will be $5 a gallon soon".
I really like my H2. If gas was $5 or more a gallon I'd still drive it. :D |
Re: H2. How rare and the public perception stateside??
They are very common in the north Dallas area. It is almost like seeing a Chevy Tahoe.

When i do come across another one we normally give one another a wave. That sort of greeting is normally reserved for the owners of cars with a cult following here. Landrover Defenders TVR,s etc. No i can honestly say that i have never suffered any abuse while driving it. |

damn things are everywhere. id bet i see 10+ a day here. wife drives hers every day and loves it.\
oh and perception isnt bad. most people talk **** to me saying it gets crappy mpg. but the escalade i had prior got 12mpg my f150 prior got 11mpg. the H gets around 12ish. i did get flipped off by some old hippy in a pruis a couple days ago. i found the humor in it |
Re: H2. How rare and the public perception stateside??
I prolly see 4-6 on any given day in the DC metro area...all stock. I haven't gotten a negative comment in a long time (year or more).
I keep mine pretty dirty though...a bath once a month (if that). I've said it before, it gets positive comments when it's dirty and a lot of dirty looks when it's clean. I think the fad of Hummer bashing is winding down...(knock) |
Re: H2. How rare and the public perception stateside??
I live in a pretty small town (15K) in northwest PA and there aren't many here. Maybe 5-6 around town. One is pimped with giant rims (puke) and I only see it in the summer, the rest are stock. I am the only lifted one in the area that I have seen. I have been noticing a lot of H3's lately though. I haven't been vandalized in years, used to happen often. I agree, people are either realizing they aren't THAT bad mpg or are simply getting over it.

H2's are very common here in Vegas. My neighbor across the street has one, the next street over there is another, etc., etc.
