The manual shows the front hitch extender and pin inside the spare tire as delivered.

What did you get?

Thanks for your input.

I know it is a funky poll but I need to have something to tell my dealer. Although there are only 8 of you, it seems to vary. The fact that more than one got the extender and pin tells me that it should have come with the vehicle.

Thanks for your input.

My manual page 4-71 says Receiver Extension (If Equipped). Why would some get it and some wouldn't???

The pin is located in one of the pockets of the tool pouch for the jack. I have the outside spare and the tools were secured on the floor of the left rear cargo area.

I have the pin but no extender. I am disapointed with Hummer. Go figure, probably $10 piece for Hummer to manufacture and all they give you is the two mounting screws in the spare tire. My custom shop is making me an adapter for $20. On another note the pin does not lock, just another bad design.

Well I just got off the phone with the dealer and they knew nothing about this hitch extender. So I called HUMMER direct and they knew nothing, finally they came back and said that it was an NOW an option and you can order it from the dealer for $29.00. I guess they fiqure no one reads the manual and we would have never known about this.

Just looked in my tire kit over lunch....by golly I do have a hitch pin....no receiver though. I guess I will have to find a drill!

BTW, I messed up the poll as I had already put in that I had neither....sorry!

Thanks for your replies. I stopped by my dealer today and used this poll data to push on them about the extender and the pin. They were quick to show me that they stuffed the jack and spare tire kit underneath each of the two plastic storage pockets (you know, the ones that don't stay snapped in flush over the wheel wells). They could fit the jack on one side and put the kit on the other. Duh? Not in the delivery check-off that I remember.

So.... I have the pin. I was told the extender is an option and is $40 bucks. So to hear one of you got a quote of $29, it makes me wonder about gouging here.

I have a near identical $16 extension hitch already for my motorhome bike rack and plan to drill a vertical hole as some of you suggested. My biggest problem is finding a stupid 5/8" drill bit. Can you believe it. I have visited 5 stores and all of them are out. Stupid Extender.....

Hum2 04-02-2003 12:01 PM

"Stupid Extender"....That says it all H2Norcal!!!

I've complained about this one for some time and many others as well: front hitch cover plate, rear hitch cover plate, coin holder, tissue holder, under-the-hood light, hood prop, rear tie downs, keys banging on dash, dual filament DRL's, plastic DRL housing deterioration, rust, and I'm sure there are others I am temp. forgetting. These are nickle/dime items that simply cheapen a $55K vehicle...no excuse GM!!!!!

Mine did not have the extender or the pin.
My dealer has the coin holder for $35.00 (I don't think so). Did anyone get the under-the-hood light, hood prop, or rear tie downs? For what the H2 cost these items should be free, my 99 Tahoe had a coin holder that was not extra.

You guys keep giving me more reasons to hate the dealer more than I already do. I'll look for that extender, but I doubt it's there. I have to go in for my first service this coming week, and I'm dreading the experience. We'll see what happens. Hopefully they haven't been reading my posts, ha ha.

I have the under-the-hood light and hood prop. No rear ties or coin holder. I use the plastic ash tray for my coin holder. I keep it in the center console .... wish i had the rear ties, though ... I may install some myself ...

I am drilling, as far as the supplied pin, I wouldn't recommend it as it does not lock. BULLY makes a nice pin for about $20 that inserts from the underside and locks. Works perfect.
