Wheel Adapter

Ok here goes. This is my first question and by looking at some of the responses you guys dish out it might be my last:raar: . I searched the forums for anyone asking about changing the lug pattern from 8 on 6.5 to 8 on 170 using adapters and I didn't find anything. I know I know!! Ford lug pattern on a Chevy lug pattern. Blasphemy:twak: . But due to my financial difficulty (Paying Child support & alimony in the state of California:violin:) i can get a cheaper price and more availabilty on a used set of wheels that are 8 on 170. FYI- i dont go off roading. It will be a pavement pounder only. Thanks and have a great weekend :beerchug: .

I did the same when I originally couldn't pass up on off on KMC xd diesel wheels in 8x170. I never had any issues out of using the adapters for over 2 yrs.

Re: Wheel Adapter

You should be fine. Billet or steel wheel adapters are stronger than the hubs they're bolting to. It's very common for a lot of the hardcore trail rigs to run adapters here in Moab, UT and I haven't had any issues in the several years of wheeling with the 2" adapters on my H2. :beerchug:

All they will do is wear your hubs out faster.

Re: Wheel Adapter

Never used any wheel adapters but i'm thinking you should probably find out the backspacing for what ever wheel your going to use w/ the adapters so you dont end up w/ your wheels sticking out alot more than wanted. You will end up throwing a hell of alot of road grime (on your rig and at other vehicles), and depending on your state laws you could get a ticket if the tires are outside of the fender flares.

I always get a laugh when there is some good packing snow on the streets. If I blip my throttle at a light for a quick spin of the tires, I can throw snow at the car in front of me, 20' straight up in the air, and at the car behind me. I'll be getting some wider fender flares at some point.
