2004 vs 2008

I was thinking of trading in our 2004 (owned it for 5 years) for a 2008 primarily due to the additional airbags, alleged increased MPG and a legitimate third seat (have 5 kids).

However, I test drove one and came away a little confused. I actually like the old utilitarian style interior better but I do think the new seats are more comfortable. The biggest issue is how it drives. My current 2004 feels quicker off the line and it seems to have better torque (perhaps gearing?). What I'm saying is although the 2008 and newer H2 has more horsepower it feels sluggish compared to my older 2004.

Thoughts? I do have a B&B exhaust but come on, all it does is makes noise?

If it really is the case that the 2008 and newer models all feel sluggish compared to the previous models I may reconsider keeping our current H2.

Re: 2004 vs 2008

I like the interior of the 2008 but it's hard to rest your arm on the narrower door sill if you are tall. For me the seats are a toss up. I think the 2007 and older are softer, but that might be from the fact they've been sat in over the years and miles. I don't notice much difference in power but the 6 speed shifts a lot and drives you crazy until you get used to it, especially if you are towing or driving in hilly or mountainous terrain. It does get almost 2 mpg better mileage because of the tranny. The instrument panel lights at night on the '08 are much easier to read with the enhanced instrument lightning.
