I have the 6 disc changer with the monsoon and XM. It sounds really good. Good enough that I am thinking about selling the speakers I had in my old truck.
|
Where is the changer? I bought my H3 yesterday. Luxury/Adventure pkgs. I'm not even sure if I have the changer. Was it an option or included with the Monsoon system?
|
If you have the Luxury package you should have the six disc changer. I think it comes standard on Lux packages.
|
I found it. The damn car cae with a book that I should have checked.

I would go with the Monsoon system. I have never had a vehicle that I have left the system stock. I was going back and forth about getting the Monsoon system as I figured why pay for it if I am just going to change everything out. Amazingly, I am thinking about leaving it all stock as it is probably the best factory system I have ever heard. Now it doesn't compare to my past systems, but I also didn't pay $5k for it.

My Audi had the Bose system in it, the Monsoon system blows it away. My 04 Wrangler also had the upgraded 7 speaker system which sounded like crap. I upgraded the deck to a Kenwood DVD with 7" screen. It made the system sound way better than the Wranglers stock radio but it still dosen't come close to the Monsoon setup. I have a Lux package with the MP3 instead of the 6 Disc changer. I figure if I can fit about 120-150 MP3's on a single Disc, that's way more the 6 standard CD's can hold. Get the Monsoon you wont regret it. |
Ive had a bose system in my Yukon Denali, and the Monsoon system sounds just as good, actually a little better.
You should get the Monsoon system. |
so what's the diff between the stock and the monsoon? speakers? amp? i know the monsoon has the 6cd changer as opposed to the single, but can the stock system be upgraded to monsoon sound? I'd like to keep the radio/cd, but what would i have to do to it to get better sound? thanks for advice.

I am not sure what the total differences are between the two but the key difference is you get the sub with the Monsoon. It is only an 8" but I am amazed how it sounds. I was originally going to go with two 8"s in the rear gate but after having it for a few weeks now, I am not sure I am going to change it. It doesn't go as deep or have the same punch as the two 10"s I am used to but does sound great. If I do change the sub, I might go with 1 dual voice coil 10" in the gate.

Monsoon comes with any upgraded H3 Stereo System.
6 CD player and MP3 are 2 different radios. Both are compatible with XM but you cannot play an MP3 Disc in the 6 CD changer I believe the speakers are the same with or without the Monsoon except you get a Sub with the Monsoon |
