H2 slipping out of gear

I drive a 2003 H2 (original owner), and it currently seems to slip out of gear at various shift points.

I have set all programming back to stock. Only code that came up was 1518 (Electronic Throttle Mod to PCM Comm). It does not seem like the transmission has any other issues, noises, symptoms. All fluid levels are great, and no debris in transmission fluid through dipstick check.

Wondering if it might be one of the controllers or solenoids.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Re: H2 slipping out of gear

communications issue between your throttle control module, and the PCM
THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU USE A TUNE/TUNER. Try running the stock tune ,and clearing the code.

When it slips out, is it subtle? I'm wondering if this is the same thing I'm experiencing that I wrote about in the thread titled, "surging between 45-50 MPH". The dealer found no codes, though.

I reset all programming to stock. the Only code that it showed at one point was 1518.

Currently all codes are clear, and still experiencing problem.

When it slips out, it seems to definitely be at shift point, and engines RPM goes way up with no power...usually can shift back into neutral and then reengage, but consistently slips out typically between 2 - 3...very obvious.

Re: H2 slipping out of gear

When I went to the dealer with my problem of surging RPM's, they said it could be the transmission having issues. The service manager made it sound like a fairly common problem. Not that it happens to 8 out of 10 trucks, but enough that he immediately thought of it. They didn't want to replace my transmission without trying some less expensive fixes first, but after a fuel system cleaning, etc., I'm still having the issue.

He suggested shifting to 3rd when I started experiencing it, and if it went away, it was most likely the trans. Haven't had a chance to try that as I don't drive the truck much lately, and the problem is very intermitent.
