Transfer Case Red Light
 

I've noticed that about twice a month the red neutral light on the drive/transfer case selection buttons will come on while I'm driving and then I just press the top 4wd button and it goes out and the top amber light comes on again. Doesn't seem to cause any problems and I wouldn't notice it except for the red light, but I'm wondering what is causing this all of a sudden.

Sounds like the transfer case encoder motor module.

Could be mode switch, encoder sensor or tccm. If you can get it scanned should be a history code in the tccm

mine was doing the same thing for a while then all of a sudden it stopped and hasn't done it for months. I did a bunch of reading up on it and the majority of people said to take it in the dirt and run through all the 4W modes to get the transfer case lubed up and working. Of course I never did that since it started working properly.
