has anyone replaced the H2 AC

so my AC is/has crapped out. blows nothing but hot air right now, and has always blown somewhat warm air.

i checked the load, and it was full of R134, but the same low pressure port must have leaked after i checked it and it is now empty.

i have never worked on an AC before, so kinda new to it, but seems somewhat straight forward from what i have seen and read.
swap parts out, vacuum line out for 30 mins.. let sit for 30 mins and check pressure and fill with R134.

of course i would replace as much of the system as i can. Compressor, drier, and lines.

has anyone done it on the H2?
is it easy to work on?
i imagine i would be working under the front end for the compressor instead of trying from the top..

any other tips?
best place for parts (i.e cheap)

Re: has anyone replaced the H2 AC

I did the AC on my 06 GTO with an LS2, basically same engine.

I replaced the compressor, evap block, and dryer. I thoroughly flushed the condenser and AC lines, new O-rings all around. Charged it up at home and it worked like a charm.

I bought all brand new AC Delco parts, Delphi compressor, all the good stuff. I wouldn't cheap out on anything. Oh and don't forget the oil.

Wasn't an overaly hard job but was a little time consuming since it was my first time ever messing with a vehicle AC system. You can find most the parts pretty reasonable at Rockauto.

Re: has anyone replaced the H2 AC

check the oriface tube and see if it is cloged with debris from your compressor . I have had good luck with Denso Compressors ,4 seasons suck. FYI if the oriface tube is cloged with debris change the condensor because it is only $120.00 for a new after market one and you can never get all the junk out by flushing the old one . you need a compressor, dryer, oriface tube and a condensor if you want to do it right and have them honor the warentee if the new compressor fails. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,6628
