Disabliing passenger side airbag in H3

My husband just had open-heart surgery and 6 bypasses. We were wondering if there's a simple way to disable the passenger side airbag in a 2009 H3. For now, he's had to ride in the back for fear that if the airbag deployed it could kill him.
