Random start problem

I have a 03 with 73k on her. The past couple months I have been having a random issue when I turn my key to start. Sometimes there could be a delay before she starts to turn over when the key is forward? Or sometimes I have to cycle the key forward and back a couple times then it will turn over and fire up? The battery is a new yellow top Optima so that's not a issue. I have no check engine light on.

I replaced the starter relay first and that was it. She turns over instantly now when the key is turned, every time.
