Exhaust manifold bolts

I have a 2007 with 34000 miles so it still has remainder of powertrain warrenty but dealer said manifold bolts are not covered, both driver and passenger rear bolt heads have broken off. Has anyone had any luck with gm to get these covered under warrenty we purchased new in march 08 but dealer says only manifold is covered if it has crack otherwise no luck Thanks mark

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts

i would say the dealer is full of sh!t

if you have the paperwork still, i would look at the warranty coverage
otherwise have him produce where it says it is not covered.

believe the H2 had a 5yr/60k full coverage

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts

07 trucks have 5 year 160000km powertrain coverage. Exhaust manifolds are covered but broken bolts are not. Might try to ask about goodwill warranty coverage as it is a common issue. No guarentee but they may decide to cover it or help in the cost of repair

What are the odds that both of your exhaust manifolds are now cracked.... ;) Can't replace them w/ out some proper bolts to secure'em.

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts

Thanks seems as if this is a common problem not only with hummers but most ls engines,It sucks that gm has not acknowledged that they should warrenty these fixes when they are fully aware they have a problem because they have already changed the bolt size for any manifold replacement. I always thought if you spend 50k on a new truck the service would be a little better but it is all about the one sale. Loyalty to a specific brand has no bearing on customer service. It was suggested that i crack the manifolds myself because gm wants them sent back if they are warrenty repaired, I found this rather amusing since they would just throw them out and not issue a recall if they found a problem anyhow.
Just venting :crying: :crying: :crying:

Re: Exhaust manifold bolts

I still claim the exhaust is to rigid...w/ the motor torquing the stress is going to be on those rear bolts. There needs to be a little play in the hangers.
