OK , i went off road one day and didnt relize i had dirt in my engine (all in compartment) so i rinsed it and then it kinda came back. what should i use to get it off , i had a spray in mind called grease lighting to get mud off .. would that be a good idea?

Go for it.

I clean my motor all the time. At some point you will only be concerned with the mechanical purpose of cleaning. Be sure not to contaminate the fuse box.

Using degreasers are fine.
