VTSTOMPER 06-27-2005 01:30 AM

So I was making my way to a birthday party and moving down the highway pretty good when I see in my passenger mirror a small black thing whipping around in the wind. I stop at the next exit to find that the rubber "seal" (if you can call it one, it is more of a spacer or anti rubbing device.) was peeling off the rear of the truck. The rubber piece is attached below the plastic that the rear running lamp is bolted to. I tossed some rubber safe adhesive on it, and I am good to go, but I almost lost it on the road.
I just wanted to send out something about it so you might want to check yours.

Good heads-up, VT. Had the same thing happen on mine. Black silicone adhesive fixed it right up.

TXSUT 06-27-2005 09:42 AM

Make me #3...same issue here.

captainmike 06-27-2005 10:08 PM

I lost one already and had the dealer replace it. Is it only the passenger side that seems to have this issue?

I only had the problem on the passenger side, too.

timgco 06-28-2005 12:15 AM

WTH? I still don't know what you are talking about. Pic please. Pretty please?

Me too.. On the drivers side. I guess I wasn't the only one.

TXSUT 06-28-2005 11:01 AM

Passenger side here.

VTSTOMPER 06-28-2005 12:23 PM

I put some Black RTV on both of them. Just to cover my bases. Mine was the passenger side as you read form the first post...but I have had to learn many times before I started the "both side" way of thought.

Yep, that clears it up. Just checked them and they are both loose. Will fix later today.

Thanks for clearing that up! And good catch!

BTW- who's plane ass looking SUT is that?

Nope, not the only one. My driver's side just started doing this last week. For now, I just keep pressing it back together as I will be visiting the dealer soon.

TXSUT 07-07-2005 12:06 AM

Well, smear my ass with peanut butter and turn the squirrels loose. I finally get off my ass to go get some RVT sealant today to fix this issue, and as soon as I get out of the truck at home, I notice my passenger side strip is missing. Damn thing was on there before I left for the auto parts store. With rain on its way, the only option I had was electrical tape for a temporary seal.

VTSTOMPER 07-07-2005 11:25 AM

Oh man! That is a hard blow Pete! I was waching eBay for some chrome ones...they would probably stick better. (j/k)

You doofus! LOL!

partsguy 07-07-2005 06:06 PM

Whoever saw the dealer and ahd them replace
them,What did they replace?I'm told it is serviced by the rail PN#15145595 and 96.
There is no listing for just the seal.
So pull out your warrenty paper work and see
what number they charged out on the bill.
I f%^$ing stumped.
(bill the cat syndrome)

TXSUT 07-08-2005 04:09 PM

I went to the dealership and get this...they are having to order the WHOLE top right rail just to get that one little rubber strip!!! At first, they thought it came with the light cap, which they had in stock, but uh-uh. I don't know if they are right or wrong, but that's what they told me.

Covered under warranty, but that is pretty screwed up...LOL.

VTSTOMPER 07-08-2005 04:22 PM

That is retarded. Should have just gone out on the lot!

If it takes more than a couple of days to get here, the service manager is going to do just that.

I thought about doing it myself when I was there this morning, but I didn't want to screw someone else (in case they sold it without noticing).
