Hey guys, any of you have a volant intake system. My intake seems to keep slipping off the head, no matter how much i tighten the hinge clamp. any ideas or similar problems?

Sorry, But I haven't had ANY problems with my Volant!

WHEN i installed my k&n it took forever to get the thing on, my buddy who was helping me said sometimes at the factory they "recondition" some of the units making it extremely hard to get the fit right , but after it was installed i havent had any trouble, im not all that technical as u can prolly tell , but what about using some kind of adhesive?

Zero problems here as well. Maybe you have a defective unit.

let me clarify the above post, i was refering to the fact that when someone returns an intake for whatever reason , instead of trashing it, the company "reconditions" it and re-sells it, what year is ur truck? i wanted the volant but they didnt make one for the 05, maybe that is the problem

All of the years are the same from an intake standpoint...and '03 should fit an '06 and vice versa. I've got a combination of the Volant airbox with an AiRaid MIT and it works fine. Being able to combine parts across vendors is no problem, so if yours is all Volant and doesn't fit it's either an install issue or your parts are jacked.

I've got one also and have never had any problems.

I do have a suggestion though. I had the same problem with an intake on my Yukon. Take the band off and take a cleaner (I used lacquer thinner) and wipe the band and surrounding piece around the throttle body clean.

I think it tends to get "greasy" and it seems the harder you tighten the clamp, the more it wants to slip.

Once I cleaned mine, I never had another problem. I did the same thing on the intake on my 4 wheeler. Once cleaned, no more problems.

Just as suggestion.

I have the Volant system on my '05 and mines would slip on occasion when i first installed it.. because it's a tight fit it would hit the radiator fan when it became loose.. i had to repostion it and make sure everything was tight than drive it for a couple of days and re-tighten it.. it hasn't happened again but i check it everytime i wash my truck.. i'm gonna try OC's tip if it happens again

You're welcome. Obviously positioning has alot to do with it but for some reason, I find that when any of the air intakes come loose, a simply cleaning of the grease ALWAYS fixes it.

Maybe it's just my luck but I've been doing it for years with the same results.

Let us know if it stays.

It has stayed so far, well see about the positioning after this weekend though!
