His wife told him to go pick up some ice for the party.

What was the whole story there. The first pictures look like he got high centered and was then coming down with help. Next thing he is in the ice and is winching ACROSS the water instead of trying to recover back onto the bank where he went in.

Funny, you don't think about asian guys being into offroad vehicles. More the rice burner type.

There's a reason my parents decided to leave china 40 years ago.

Offroading is big in Japan as in many other countries.

They even have a Hummer club down there.

I had a friend of mine translate it for me.

It happened near Beijing. The Jeep() went up the berm and got high centered. The driver got scared of rolling it so he & his friends decided to try to lower it down to the frozen pond, thinking that the ice was thick enough to support the Jeep(). Once the Jeep() started to break through the ice they tried to pull it back up with three vehicles, but couldn't. They had no choice but to try to winch it across the frozen pond. His buddies stayed with him until well after dark, but finally decided to try again in the morning. When they got back they found that the pond had refrozen. They ended up having to use the heavy machinery to pull the Jeep() out. The ARB bumper failed because it was a cheap Chinese knock-off(LMFAO!!!). The damage included 5 windows, bent A-pillars, broken turn signals, body panels ALL very dented and, of course, massive water damage.
But as you can see from one of the last pictures he still had a sense of humor about it and had a smile(pained though it may be) on his face.

I know when I sank my first H2 I wasn't smiling.
