I ran across this in 4 wheel & off road mag.

While radical environmentalists were vandalizing Hummers (and other SUV) at a Southern California dealership this summer, Hummer took a much more proactiv step toward preserving recreational areas in need by teaming with Tread Lightly! to form a new partnership called Hummer Helps. The program was announced during a trail clean-up day in Drummond Island, Michigan, that was held by the International Hummer Owners Group.
The Hummer Helps program was created " to recongnize Hummer owners who have utilized ther vehicle's capability for acts of humanity, and to sustain the lands were outdoor enthusiasts enjoy off highway activities," according to General Motors. As part of the effort, Hummer made a $100,000 endowment to Tread Lightly! The funds are to be allocated to enthusiaast clubs that are Tread Lightly! members and that have pinpointed recreational areas in need.
"Hummer are purpose-built vehicles with superior off highway capability, and many of our owners work to protect the environment for the future use," said Mike DiGiovanni, Hummer general manager.
"This donation to Tread Lightly! will bring local communitly volunteers together with federal, state, and local land management agencies to work toward a common goal-enhancing our recreational areas."

Ah heck...this is stupid.

No, I'm not referring to the blatant abuse of "The never-ending paragraph"....

If GM/Hummer wanted to help the environment and work with some money...they could just as well have given our rigs front-lockers. Hear me out:

If we had front lockers we'd not so much shred up the terrain trying to find traction. Now THAT'S a Tread Lightly concept!!!!

Steve, R2 is right the front lockers are easy to install. I had a one armed alcholic friend of mine do it and he had just had lasek surgery that morning and a vasectomy the day before. He charged me $20.00 and a case of PABST BLUE RIBBON!

A locker is a device that people put on IFS rigs to break CV joints.

Steve R 12-07-2003 11:12 PM

R2..shoot me some info on that thing. I don't think it'll break the CV joints unless somebody goes and hammers it real hard.
