My jack cover door was always coming off when I would shut the rear door. After looking closely at the weird clip connectors, I realized that the rubber piece on the back just expands to lock the hatch in place. Then I noticed that the latch assembly just screws together and the plastic nuts on the back were loose and did not allow the rubber to expand enough for a good grip. I tightened them and now they have super holding power!
