thanks to kodiakz for the dash kit...
anyways, was wondering if anyone who has installed the d1 or similar if you can help me out. first, where do I hook up the brake sensor/cable coming from the deck? I think the unit still works but i get a message saying that I havent plugged that wire in properly. I would like to hook it up so that I dont get that annoying message. second, i think i got the speed signal correct, but i can test that for sure when i acutally use the NAV. Is there anything in particular to look for if the speed signal isnt working? Like will the nav work. I notice when going to NAV mode that I couldnt set a destination. thanks! |

damit...
Ijustfound out that my on-star and phone isnt working. I have the on-star module (GMAH24)and I triple checked the wires to make sure they were plugged correctly. Any ideas? Does anyone have a pic of their module wired so that I can compare my wiring? |
Mark, vss (speed sense) should be dk grn w/ white at cluser or pcm blue plug #21. Parking brake is lt blue at switch or bcm black plug #A31. GMAH is pretty much plug and play as far as onstar is concerned--it should keep onstar intact without any wiring mods. did you connect the 2 purple wires together at 24 pin plug? When you say you can't select a destination, that may well be because the unit is not seeing the correct parking brake signal and won't let you select many items until it is properly connected.
|
your a life saver Kodiakz, I'll try the two purple wires and then tapping the rest as you mentioned.
I'll keep you posted on the results |
connected the two purple wires and now on-star works! THANK YOU!!!
dont mean to sound stupid but when you say cluster you mean behinde the radio plugs right? also, where would one find the pcm plug... behind the radio as well? same with bcm? those are the only two wires left and i'm done! thanks, |
just did a search and found what pcm is and where its located. Before i route the speed sensor through the firewall and into the pcm can it be tapped inside the car?
as well as the brake sensor? Kodiakz - when you say the parking brake is lt. blue at the switch, which switch are you referring to? |
ok, i figured i'd show some pics to verify this pcm and/or bcm plugs.
which plug is the pcm and which is the bcm. Im still having difficulties finding the speed sensor and brake sensor. |
and if the pics i show isnt either of them, can someone take pics as to where i should plug... thank you!

BCM (Body Control Module) is located in the PASSENGER KICK PANEL.

As for speed signal, it's dk grn w/ white of smaller audio connector.
|
BB is correct, but may I add a caution.
The black connector to the radio, contains two dark green/white wires, so make sure to look carefully at the photo supplied by BB and connect to the correct wire on terminal E. The other wire is the class 2 serial buss wire. The photo you displayed, is of the underhood junction (fuse) block and the connectors circled are primarily ignition supply voltages, ground or crank voltage. |
DAMN! I am so confused now!
![]() I'm glad KodiakZ is doing mine. |

My black radio plug only has two wires from it... pink and orange w/black stripe. My radio is the basic non bose does that make any difference? |

Mark M, my H3 has Monsoon Sound System, so there may be a difference in wiring between Basic and Monsoon ???
|
woohoo... I finally got my D1 installed!
I love this forum! thanks to everyone who helped me get my issues resolved. I'll take pictures tomorrow! |
Glad to hear you got it working! Where did you end up tapping into a vss wire?

Its on the same location as the green wire if I had the monsoon radio. as for the parking brake, I was attempting to reroute the wire to the passenger side so i can tap into the kick panel and in doing so, I was under the steering column moving the brake sensor wire from the radio and low and behold i saw a lt. blue wire where the parking brake foot pedal is. I was like WTH, so I tapped in that and woohoo it worked! ![]() |
btw, i didnt know that the D1 cannot play DVDs unless you have an external dvd player... that was a dissapointment. however, i didnt get the system for watching dvds; i got it for the rear cam
I have the headrest screens for the DVD, which is ok. nonetheless was still kinda bummed! |
