i am trying to install the avic-d1. i am using pac audio os2 wiring harness. i have checked and rechecked my wiring. i plugged it all in last night, and nothing.
i know that i have to cross the three purple wires for the onstar to work. i haven't done that yet. will that keep the aftermarket unit from powering up? i am wondering if my interface module is not working. anyone know? thanks |
You say you are using a pac os2 adaptor... Did your factory system come with the monsoon or not. This is important on what adaptor you use.
Check this link about installs. those folks are instaling the D1 right now and might be able to give you some tips. D1 install thread Also I would look at this adaptor over the pac if I was to do it all over again. Other adaptor I say this because it appears to be more plug and play. |
omg whoops.. you're on that thread lol...

The purple wires also control RAP(retain accessory power)Thats why your unit isnt firing up.Make sure you disconnect the battery terminal first. |
Were you able to get it going? If not, do you have a test light/meter to check for +12v constant, switched and ground?

I got it!!! Thanks to everyone on this board that has commented on this post and others involving head unit installs. I figured all of it out from this board.
The purple wires was the trick. I had held out on hooking them up because i wasn't sure if I was ready to install everything. All I have left to do is install the rear back up camera. Still not sure on how to enter the wiring into the cab. I tried a post but not too many responses. Anyone got some ideas? thanks |

My installer came up under the rear hatch sill(plastic rectangle edge on the cargo floor) Just pry it up,im not sure if he drilled a hole or went through something there? they did have some puddy around it for a seal.I did notice on the bottom of the plastic sill they knoched out a little for the wire than ran it to the left side pannel.I think they tapped into wires on taillight also. Where are you putting your camera...List pics of install when done. ![]() |
Route your wire up the frame rail on the driver side. Underneath the driver's floorboard is a grommit that allows nice access into the cabin, and you can easily run it right up to the radio from there.

okay. i am going to look at it tonight. right now i am thinking of mounting it at the rear plate, and hang it towards the driver's side. i am going to hook it up and play around with locations before i get started.
thanks for the routing recommendations. |
