So these trucks have been out for almost a year and major parts are not avalable?

What are they usingto make them new at the plant?

I tried t get rear lower plastic quarter panel (inside piece with the monson grile, the sub is behind this panel)...guess what cant get it..what if you get in a rear collision and the panel snaps? do yo do without one for the rest of the life of the vehicle?

WTF?

They are just now going on 6 months since they started hitting the dealerships and they have already far exceeded the expected sales and production for the first model year. I am sure that is why there are delays in getting parts. Could be wrong but that would be my guess.

HoKC thank you for the good info. Anyone have inside contact with GM to determine future availabilty of these parts??

This is not uncommon for first model year vehicles. However, what you should ask your dealership is if they have opened a "SPAC case" on the required backordered parts. What this will do is put out a national search at GM's expense to all the dealer base, and PDC's (GMSPO warehouses). If there is one available for sale, a dealer will normally overnight it to your SPACing dealer, again, at GM's expense. If there are no parts available for sale, the part will get put on a priority list, such that when the part does become available, you will be first in line. There are ways to get parts, you just have to know which neck to squeeze.

Not unusual for a first year vehicle. It is something the US manufacturers have learned from the Japanese car companies.

Thank you GMpartsguy and Fstop..I think a SPAC has been opened on the lift gate . I'll confirm this with dealer.

Our plant has had problems getting swing gates sent to go to dealers. We've sent them directly to dealers from the factory. We would probably do it in your case but you'll have to push it on your end.

HummerNewbie 12-01-2005 12:17 PM

Anyone have the sales numbers for the first six months for the H3? Just curious.

PCBeach 12-04-2005 12:32 AM

Update 12/3..All parts originally ordered 11/14 have been shipped. The dealership parts mgr called the area parts rep who located the 4 parts at different plants..the gate is direct ship mfg to dealership. Thank you.

"Been There, Done That".
My H2 was hit by a drunk driver right after I bought it. 60 MPH right into the ass end of the Hummer.
Dealer could not get parts to fix it. The Hummer set in the body shop for 4 1/2 mounths befor it was fixed.
Just keep after your dealer to get it fixed.
I hope you are ok from the accident, and the dealer gets your Hummer back on the road soon.
