H3 Hummer 11-02-2005 02:19 PM

I saw an obvious new H3 yesterday (with dealer tags) and it was so stripped down. No luggage cross-bars, no grill guard, nothing extra. Two things that really surprised me, no rear spare tire and no tow hooks.

The tow hook assembly was there but the actually hooks were not. I know GM is cutting costs but what's next. No sterring wheel?

man that sucks. I was going to get my wife one at one time, but that engine being only 5 cylinders and getting less than 20 mpg highway bugged me. They were even going to charge me for the owners manual. We ended up getting a GX470 for her. Very nice, and tons of power. 8 cylinder and gets the same gas mileage as a 5 cylinder h3?????

I bought mine stripped (well not that stripped)its cheaper that way. Then get your accesories online with no tax and dealer mark up.

Same here. I already added my Manik stepbars for less than $300 when the dealer's were $800. I had them take their bars off before I bought it. It's now a work in progress.

I would say that the one that you saw was in the process of having some custom work do. They don't come without a spare and I am sure that they do not come without the tow hooks. As far as the cross-bars, unless you are paying for them, you don't get them. I would say that most I have seen on the road don't have them.

I agree, or it came out of the body shop.

ditto. They were probably just getting some mods. The only $tealer here in PDX 'accessorizes' everything. $2k for roof rack, brush guard, and steps? I don't THINK so.

Had them taken off today, and am going down to a bumper fab place tomorrow to get a quote for my new (custom-built) winch bumper! Can't be any more expensive than the dealer (I hope!).
