Now if this were a Republican it would be on a crawl across your screen 30 times a day.

Quote:

Amid Katrina Chaos, Congressman Used National Guard to Visit Home
Two heavy Trucks, Helicopter Were Involved in Lawmaker's Trip at Height of Crisis.

Sept. 13, 3005 — Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck, a congressman used National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings — even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from rooftops, ABC News has learned.

On Sept. 2 — five days after Katrina hit the Gulf Coast — Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., who represents New Orleans and is a senior member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee, was allowed through the military blockades set up around the city to reach the Superdome, where thousands of evacuees had been taken.

I was going to say the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised to see this on FoxNews but any of the other networks, YES, I am surprised.

I was just telling someone about this and she told me about the mayor leaving town. Did you hear that right after the catastrophe started, Mayor Nagen left NO with his family and went to Dallas to buy a house and enroll his daughter in school. He didn't come back until Bush came to tour the area. I have not confirmed this but can anyone else.

Edit: just saw a video clip on FoxNews reporting on it. Said he left on Wed. and didn't return until Bush got there on Fri.

In the end it will be the mayor of NO and the governor of LA whose asses are in a sling over this- NOT President Bush.

And apparently the Mayor is already getting moved out of there.

Definitely more appropriate

Of course, why would the media want to pick up on this? It would divert attention away from W. That's the last thing they would want to do...

Oh they might pick it up if W. is getting good press If he does, this could be the top story of the day.

If you put the hair back on that congressman, take away the favorable studio lighting and hand him a crate of Heineken . . .

Seriously, they could be brothers.

Exactly what I was thinking

Why isn't Al Sharpton blasting this guy for his actions?
