I have not installed one YET! I have been looking into several options. The best I could find in my opinion is the pioneer dvd navigation system that has a input for a rear mount camera. Clarion also makes a similar product. I don't know about the Elcipse version. This way you can get a DVD Navigation and backup camera all on the same screen.

The Eclipse system we've been putting in ours has a backup cam.

I installed a back-up camera just under the hitch. It works GREAT!!!
|
What brand was the camera? About how much was it?
|
I honestly don't know the brand. It was integrated into my Kenwood deck. The cost for the camera was around $300 or so.

Ok Mr. Sharkman, cough up the pics at once, or we all are getting in our cars and driving over to your house to see how you set it up!
|
I will email the pic tomorrow. My wife took the H3 to the movies.

I had one installed with an in-dash eclispse Navigation. The camera was mounted inside the lip above the license plate. I was skeptical of the location so installer agreed to move it if I did not like the way it functioned there. The viewing area must be about 170 degrees, cuz I sure don't miss much. I am not going to have them move it. I wanted it installed in the middle of the center cap on the spare wheel but they could not rig up a quick disconnect in the event I needed to actually use the spare.

Here is a pic. I had it mounted under the trailer hitch. It feeds into my Kenwood deck and when I put the truck in reverse, the camera kicks on.
|
Nice spot and I bet it works great - however you will smash it to bits when you cross a small ravine or "gully". But you might not ever go off-road much so it might not be a concern, however my hitch is already scratched up from hitting the ground when dropping the read end off a ledge.
