Have you thought about buying a programmer instead?

LasVegas 01-09-2005 02:31 AM

I agree with Marcmedic. I just installed the Hypertech III program and it seems that it gives you a lot more latitude. You can go back to stock anytime, try various settings, plus you have the benefit of getting the dtc code readouts and deleting them if you want to.

SteveGt 01-09-2005 06:53 AM

yeah ive been looking up on them and found one called the power chip it looks good and it can be easely removed im going to look into the hypertech are they easy to install or do you have to take them in to get done?

What year model is the H2? If nothing else I have quite a bit of experience with programmers since i have had one on My 99 Silverado since i bought it new. If it is an 2005 the only one that i can absolutely tell You will work without damage to 2005 is put out by comp cams and i think they named it Fast Flash Handheld Programmer. If older then I have had more experience with Hypertech since i'm only 1 1/2 hours from both brands. Hope it helps. OH, I agree completely with previuos replies go with programer not a chip. With programer You can adjust speedometer to match tire etc. there are just alot of things you can have control over with programer.

Rick (TAZ)

Las Vegas got me to feeling like I should use my nickname now if everyone is Ok with it and remember that TAZ is Rick.

Hey TAZ( ),

I'm back now. Sorry it took so long but I'll be doing some faxing tommorrow. As you can tell by the time, I'm f*k'd up with jetlagg and there's a bitch of a blizzard outside(Gonna do some late night stalking in the snow ).

Closer to topic, I'm thinking of SC on the Beast this spring.

Marcmedic 01-09-2005 10:58 AM

There are many different programmers out there. All just plug into the port at the bottom of the dash. It's even easier than installing a chip. You will have to run premium unleaded with either I believe.

Steve:

Like the reat here, go with a programmer---many more options and easily changed. Most are not yet out for the 2005---like Predator---they will be on the market as soon as they are able.

LasVegas 01-09-2005 04:17 PM

You bet -TAZ-. I love it!

HUMMERcustoms.com/TAZ 01-09-2005 04:54 PM

Dennis glad You made it back safely. Yea TAZ is what I'll go by or Rick if I forget. Las Vegas started using My nickname from football days and felt like I would start using it. It felt comfortable. I explained in a thread how I got it. Do a search for TAZ as I forget which topic Las Vegas and I were talking about when TAZ began to be used. Well glad Your back safely. I'm still building light bars so not ready to install just yet but it will give Me time to study. My Magnacharger is ordered and hope to have it in this month or Feb. at the latest. I may have a show in March so I want it in and engine dressed out. I posted a thread asking about engine kits if anyone knew of one or just make a list of what I should be stocking up on and where to get it. I want to complete the engine dress up at the time SC goes in as perf. shop I use will do it when they put thing back together.

There you go! After you add the SC, you can bolt on a Warn Winch Bumper and you'll be all set!

HUMMERcustoms.com/TAZ 01-09-2005 05:30 PM

With a programer it will give You 3 or 4 tuning options and allow You to burn 87 up to 93 octane, that is what is nice about programer is there are so many parameters You can set to meet Your needs. Unless You are running SC You can try High Perf. setting and 87 octane and if You do not get ping burn 87 as that is what I'm doing in My 99 Silverado for 6 years and I tried it on 05 H2 and it worked also. Remember the octane You see on pump is the minimum that can be dispensed out of that pump. The octane is usually higher than pump says unless gas has aged by staying in transportation system to long or the station tanks to long. Usually it is produced, delivered and sold in days but, to be safe so they do not get fined they deliver fuel at a higher octane level than labeled on pump. My Dad's friend has a son who is an engineer for major oil co. in Houston and that is how I learned more about octane plus read the small print on the pump label. The only programer that is out at this time or being released now is the Fast Flash Handheld Programmer. You get it from Comp Cams in Memphis, TN. They have a website and You can get a contact # or email address there. I forget what there website is but just search for Comp Cams. I'm running it on My 2005 H2 for little over 2 months now and so far no complaints. I run it most of the time on performance setting and burn 87 octane no problems. I know the man that designed this one and sold it to Comp Cams in Oct. 04 and He told Me to try it on H2 should be alright, listen to engine it will tell You if it does not like what You are doing. This guy is very good and I'm confident in his work and what He tells Me. In Little Rock, AR He is well respected. This guys co. still builds the Helix Power Tower TB spacer and a air intake kit that I'm running and like both. His TB Spacer does not make noise like most. I got My Fast Flash thru the original guy and not Comp Cams, so that is why I cannot tell You much except they have it and it works real well if it is like what I got from the original programer. Comp Cams bought His programmer and unless they did some changes it should be a good programer. Hope this helps.
