There is a small wire for the switch power that the instructions say to attach to a "power source." I think this is just for the light on the switch? Where can I pick up a wire?

Hmrlvr, which lights are you installing and where. I'm looking to get PIAA 520 ION lights on the SMA HD brush guard
|
I've got the same lights. I've got the brush guard from the dealer, but I wish I held out and got the SMA.

Ok, this isn't too bad. I just did this project this week.
Go to Autozone and get a add-a-fuse. Open your hood and look into your fuse box. You can use the #17 slot (this will allow you to only use the lights with the truck in the run position or with the truck started only). This way you won't kill your battery by leaving them on by accident Don't plug the fuse in until you are all the way done. You can run the wire into your cab through the firewall or go in through the drsd boot wher all your door controld come into. Just pull that boot out(it's tough) and than punch a hole through it. Make sure to seal it up when your done. I mounted the PIAA 20 relay with 3M tap to the panel in the back of the engine bay. You have to remove the bracket. The ground cable for that realy can be run next to it with that ground bolt. I mounted the switches in the wrong spot. I wanted them on the RH side of the steering wheel but ran th ewirer too short. If you put your switches where I did, you will have to grind out some of the dash. You won't see it though when you put the panels bacck in. i also cut off the PIAA switches. I use Hella ones. I prefer the look of them better and they arer flush mount. here's some pics. I hope this helps. The first pic you can see the boot I ran the wires through and the Hella switches. |

pic of the fusee block with the add-a-fuse. this will allow you to run power to your switches. It will plug into the third slot back (#17) and the fuses will sit obove the second slot.

I mounted the PIAA relay on the fender in the back of the engine bay. The ground bolt is close by too.

Thankyou, Your truck looks awesome.
|
Timgco, are those the all white driving lights or the ION fog lights.
|
THe 1500XT's on the rack are clear driving.
The 520's on the grille guard are the clear driving. I also ran some 3M film I had left over from a previous truck, cut out a circle pattern and through the guards back on. |
Thanks, looks very good!!!

Timgco, thanks for the info. I followed your instruction. From the picture I think your PIAA covers are cocked to the right. Mine are also. whats up with that. It's making me crazy.

If your's are leaning to the right, pop the lights back off and take a large adjustable wrench and try to twist it. Be careful not to break a weld. |
Thanks much, wish my truck lived in the garage.
