I believe it is possible but it would pointless because the range on the stock remote is terrible.
Check out the Viper 791xv - It has great range and a 2 way remote that will let you know if your alarm goes off. It can easily be integrated into the factory system. |
Yes, very easy to do. You will not lose your driver 1 and 2 settings. Range is very good.
Plenty of sources in and around the Staten Island area. |
What is a typical distance that you would desire for a high quality remote starter to function, and do they work through walls?-- or if you are on the other side of a large building from where your car is?--- or if your car is separated from you by 50 tons of concrete while in a parking deck?
Thanks. gasman |
Yes they work through walls etc. My buddy has the Viper on his Escalade. He can start it and receive confirmation on the remote from over 2500 feet away inside a shopping mall/ office building. It is badass!
I want one. |
I have my factory remote configured to my auto start. The range isn't that great, I can however start the truck from inside my house every morning without having to even look outside. All I do is press the lock button twice. And by the way how much range does one need anyway?

drouke,
Who makes your remote start and how much was this? Thanks in advance. Craig 04 Pewter H2- Lux,nav, air suspension |
It's made by the people who make Viper alarms DEI technologies. I got it when I first got my rig last November, I can't remember the price exactly, I wanna say 200 installed.

i have the same one was drouke. they offer several different style remotes.. all with different range. they base.. overs 4 buttons.. unlock, lock, (press them together the car starts) panic (to basically find your car in a huge parking lot) and the aux button. once started, the car only remains 'on' for 12 mintuews until shutdown. if you get to the car and it is still on, just place the key in the on position and thats it. for the winter, its very useful. otherwise, in the summer, it just works for me as a very good long range lock/unlocker.
