Hey, any other GM employees here worried about upcoming Black Tuesday event?
Anyone other than me, been told to make sure I come to work on Tuesday, and make sure my company car is in the parking lot?

Explain please. What is Black Tuesday?

Is it like Jeans Day but in this case you come to work with a black person around your neck?

Supposed to be the day, when GM lays off approx. 3000 engineers and other personnel. In addition, many will lose company cars, if they have been issued them.

I would but I have too much work to do; just returned from a week on the road. If they tell me I'm one of the choosen ones, I still have until Friday before leaving. Then I see three sick days coming....

I wonder how many GM employees will show up drunk on Tuesday. I mean, knowing the chopping block is coming but not having any f'ing clue who what when or where.

Don't be nervous, you obviously know a lot and are enthusiastic about what you do. They are lucky to have you on the team. So if you get chosen, it wouldn't be personal and only opportunities can rise from there. But I'm sure you know that. I will be thinking of you tomorrow so please let us know.

I will admit, I would prefer two more years, and then retire, but if it happens tomorrow, it might just give me the kick in the ass I need to move on and get out of MI. The west is calling...
