Im looking to buy a H2 hopefully in the next few weeks but there is one problem... it wont fit in my compact car garage I live in Texas and summer here can be long and brutal.. Should this be a big concern for me over the long haul or will the H2 stands up against the Texas heat, any Texan here?

May I be so bold as to ask why such a question? I mean, what would make the H2 different than any other vehicle concerning the sun? Is the heat in Texas different than the heat in other places of the same or lower northern latitude?

Mine in VT is out all the time. Rain, Hail, Sleet, Snow, Sun, Wind...That is VT for you. My garage is too small as well....too short and too narrow.

Most modern vehicles have UV resistant glass to protect the interior....PS i am in TX

I would actually tend to think the H2 would serve better than most vehicles. The windows and windshield are almost vertical to the ground ( original reason for this: reduce the suns reflection from the air on the H1's windows so they couldn't be spotted by helicopters ) ....just a guess here...

howdy good to hear you have no problem so far, its a relief

Different manufacture use different materials and paints/paint process. I used Texas as an example so hopefully my experience will be similar.

Dear Sin,

I think it's a fair question. I'm in Southern California and I don't think our sun is as consistently hot as your. My H2 is black with a sunroof. I keep mine in a carport. If I couldn’t, I would get one of those canopies over a metal frame they sell to shield your car. (My recollection is that they’re not too expensive.) Failing that, there is the windshield shade or dash cover approach. Everything may hold up fine without any of these, but with leather seats, I wouldn’t want my interior going over 100`F frequently and for sustained periods. I just think it ages everything faster. Good luck and please let us know what you do.

I live in Laredo. You know 12feet from H3LL. No problems so far.

drmiles 03-18-2005 07:32 PM

I was told that the sunroof would make it hotter in the summer. NOT TRUE, mine is outside all the time, black with black interior. No problems, cooler than most vehicles when you get in and no fading of paint or interior.
Oh yeah I have tinted windows and a windshield screen that I never use.

Las Vegas where the sun doesn't get much more intense. No problem with paint. But you gotta stay up on the black vinyl.

Remodel the garage like I did.

Tinted windows definitely help out in the summer. I keep mine in the garage whenever possible.

Another south Texan here. Shade, what's shade?

Mine is also outside 24-7. I've noticed that in the summer, it's actually cooler in this truck than it was in my C1500 pickup after a day sitting in 100+ heat. I haven't seen any negative impact on exterior OR interior - I never even bothered to get a sunshade with this truck, I haven't needed one!

h2sin,

DONT believe them. I'm in San Antonio and mine melted the first day it got over 90. They lie. They are all part of the H2 Communist Party. That guy Seth gets kick backs from the dealerships to say great things a bout the H2.

HUMMERDOGG 03-22-2005 05:28 AM

Houston, Texas Heat... Like No Other...

Our football shoes in college were black and the rubber soles would literally melt during practice on the turf...
