Ok guys... changing out the stereo on a 2005 SUT. While I would like to keep the "appearance" of fairly stock setups -- where can I install a 10'' sub inside the SUT without destroying the ability of folding down the back seats and midgate?
The speakers are going in stock locations, amps under the front seats, etc.... Just need a spot to put that dang 10 incher... Anyone come up with creative ideas yet? |
Someone makes a box for under the back seat. I think it had 2x10" openings. I'll see if I can find it again.

I havent done it yet but am looking and saw this one....

I would really like to not be the ginny pig on this product. There looks to be zero air space, and I'm still not sure that the seats will fold down flat against that box.

I had an amp and JL 8W3 from my previous car...i went and bought another of the same sub and made and appointment to have a sub box for 2 8" with a panel for the amp to be mounted to under the rear seat built by Custom Car Stereo here in Houston...i drop it off on wednesday...i will take some pics when i pick it up...

I called them today and spoke to the gal that answered the phone, she said that she thought that the seat might not fold all the way flat, something like 1/4". I went out and measured in my 05 4 door and there is only about 5-1/4" from bottom of seat to the floor.
The box has a max sub mounting depth of 5-1/2" so I am going to say that even the seat might not sit all of the way down when it is not folded. You might want to try the JL Audio website or local dealer, they have a 6" sub that might replace/fit in the stock location, might be worth a try but, it's probably not going to get you slammin bass. I would check with local audio shops to see about a custom built box with some shallower/smaller subs like 2, 2 or 4 6" or 8" I think for the four door I will use the JL Audio Stealthbox with the 12W6v-2D with mt exisitng JL 500/1 amp. Good Luck, Mike |
I am a firm believer in no highs no lows must be bose. Anyway, q forms makes a set of front kick panels for the h2. So what I am going to do is put a set of 6in components in the kick panels, an eight in. sub in the front door (w/ a hell of a lot of dynamat) and a set of co-axels in the rear doors. Also, I'm going to put tweaters in the factory front loc's and a 6 in sub in the factory dash loc. I'll let you know when the kick panels come in (7-10 days) and everything gets installed.

No 2 x 8" will do any good to you. Too small for big truck. You've to for a 10's if you want to get better base. I'm looking to 2 x 10" subs and enclosure tailored under rear seat. Should have one done in a month or so. I'll post some pictures then... |
We just finished our first sut box that will hold 2 Kicker 10" L7s. The box has a little over 2.2 cubic feet. We decided to try something different so we had it Rhinolined (instead of carpeted) and it turned out very nice. Should have it fired up in the next couple weeks and I will post again with the final results.

I installed the subbox.net unit that lexpro talked about. it will not allow the seat to fold all the way down.will post pics soon
|
You can get it from here as well it is cheaper and this guy says he is the one who builds them for subbox.net
