Is there any need for the magentic side protection in Moab? Any brush?

No need at all, unless you are going to run Kane Creek or a similar canyon bottom river trail. I can't think of any besides Kane.
Most every trail is wide open. |
Not unless you don't ride your brakes like tower did and popped up a ledge and into a juniper tree.
