I'm looking for ideas/suggestions on where people have placed their antennas. Pictures are very welcome. I'm considering 2 antennas (one for CB and one for VHF), but don't let that prohibit you from posting if you only have one or the other. I'm not sure how far I should distance them or what to use for mounting. I'm tired of the magnetic ones getting knocked off by branches. I don't have a rear tire carrier either, so that may change my options.

Thanks for any input.

Do a search for cb mounting and you will see good ideas. I did mine like Glenn and it has worked great. http://elcova.com/groupee/forums?q=Y&a=tpc&s=2826088551&f=6706011751&m=36860 44512&p=1

Thanks. Did a search on antenna yesterday and didn't come up with anything remotely close. I knew there had to be something somewhere.

For the CB get a magnetic unless your driving an H1 soft top. You might put it on your front bumper and point it forward as you follow H2's, because we are high enough to see where we are going. H2 people put it any place you want it. We drive metal vehicles

Skulz,
Where are you mounting your CB?
I found a great solution. Solid as a rock. I got it through RubberDuck 4x4. My pictures (on my personal website) don't do it justice... but it's a cheap option for an awesome CB mount! Let me know if you have any questions. I think R2 has the same set-up!

Shannon,
That looks like a great mount. Currently my cb is on an old mount setup to sit over a hump in an older car (if you can picture this). Two flaps that anchor it down on the hump. The flaps fold underneat, so I just have it all sitting on the "cd storage bin". I can then velcro the VHF radio on top of the CB. I'll have to look more at your setup though as that seems more practical. VHF is really small, so can always mount it underneath the steering wheel by right leg.

I have magnetic antennas for both the CB and the VHF, but I'm not sure how much distance needs to be inbetween the two. Branches tend to be on one side or the other on the trails, so I put my cb antenna in the middle (where it still gets knocked over a few times per day). Just recently got the VHF, so this is a new dilemma.

Thinking about the setup Phil has for a CB and then maybe just sticking with magnetic for VHF or vice versa.

Although now you have me drooling over extra underbody protection!

Ha, Ha, smart man The upgraded undercarriage protection is a MUST for offroading! PhilD has done the best write-up that I've seen...
