I want to add a cold air intake, I see that there are lots to choose from, I am seeking advice on which one to go with? My idea is to try and get better gas mileage with what ever performance I can get? Any suggestions.

Well, in my opinion, the Volant Cold Air Intake is by far the best. It's the one I chose, and I am EXTREMELY happy with the Performance aspect
![]() As for Gas Mileage....NOT A CHANCE. With the exception of a Supercharger, I don't believe ANY bolt on performance mod will give the the mileage increases they all seem to state. ![]() Joys of being a HUMMER owner ![]() |

I have an Airaid system... cant tell you how it compares to others, but I have been happy with it and the filter is easy to clean and use again... As for MPG... HummBob said it well.

the volant seems to be made of a little bit sturdier materials, both will give you a pretty much equal boost in HP. Any increase you got in MPG is immediately offset by the joy of putting your foot into it repeatedly.
If your truck is a 2005 or newer you'll probably need to get the corresponding MAF upgrade with the cold air kit--the newer trucks don't respond too well to cold air intakes with the factory MAF, check engine light comes on and truck locks in 2nd gear. |
I ran the Extreme Flow for about a year and a half. Wet, (and dusty) weather is very hard on the filters and allows a lot more **** in. I went back to stock, it's a much better filter! I've run the K&N filters on everything! But No more on the 2!

I have been running the Airaid system on all my H2's, 03, 05 & 06 with no problems. It's the only system that I have used, so I can't really comment on other brands.

I have the Airaid and there are three things I do not like about it.
One is that it is not completely sealed from the engine compartment which allows hot air to get in. Two, when the hood is up & washing the engine - the filter is exposed and water/soap gets all over the filter. I have to go through trouble of covering it up. Three, the added noise causes lots more things to vibrate around the dash area. |
Ive got the Volant system and like anything else, you wont notice a difference in the mpg's but the difference in performance is noticable. My exhaust is so loud I cant tell the difference in sound so I wont comment on that either! As for cleanliness, the Volant system is great because it is enclosed which keeps the trash from outside coming in and the heat out.

Volant and ditto on all the milage information. No increases.

About the Magna charger, I usually install it with Air Aid air filter, and it works great,
but I'm in trouble that the engine have not enought cold air intake. No one have think something like an air scoop intake in the hood, or to relocate the front turn like to made a "cold air gallery" directly from the front of the grille to the air filter? Is a crazy idea? |

i have a AEM brute force intake kit on my dodge. it seems to do a good job at keeping cool. nice steel box, and weather striping. also, they just came out with a filter you dont have to oil. just wash, dry, and re-use.
