i would love to have that duramax

I'd want to drive one first primarily to assess the noise level, although I hear that Duramax is indeed very quiet. I'd guess the add-on sticker price for a diesel option would be around $7K, would this make the H2 still attractive, price wise?

I've never owned a diesel and I do all maintenance and must repairs myself on my vehicles - I'm not sure how much more maintenace a diesel requires.

I, for one, would buy the H2 if they offered the turbo-diesel option.

I've owned a diesel mercedes before, and since they are quite simple engines, don't require the amount of maintenance that a regular gas engine does. I basically just changed the oil..

I don't have any negative opinion about what people do with their Hummers, big tire, flames, bagged, $10K stereo, rims, expensive exhaust system, whatever, not my business, good for them and I enjoy reading them. But I must respectfully place a BIG NO vote for diesels. They are bad for the environment, dirty and smell bad. It is my business, my air. All diesel vehicles should be banned from this country, there is no place for them. I am an environmentalist, not the ones you read about, but I do care about my air, my streets, my city, my state, parks, forests, and my country. My business travels take me to countries with leaded gas, old vehicles and lots of diesels, many are not third world countries, but Europe, Hong Kong or Japan, as I walk down those streets, I thank God I am an American living in America.

But I recently got slammed-down for voicing my disgust for the filty diesel-burners. Turns out that diesel fuel is actually better for our environent then traditional gasoline. I'm not kidding!

While diesel has more visual constituents (sp?), I've been told by many that it actually settles out of the air and has much less impact on our atmostphere and environment both. Hard to belive....yes, but do the research...I was surprised too!

There are 7 pages of reports about diesels(invented by Rudolph Diesel) in the 12/23/02 issue of AutoWeek. While the EU diesel fuel may claim to be cleaner burning(35% of auto sales in Europe), such is not true here in the USA, what you mentioned is NOT YET the case here, maybe by 2006, MAYBE. The more I read it the more confused I got, it is not a clean cut case, but I see the smoke and I smell the fume. It may deliver more MPG, but we all have a responsibility to our world. 21st century technology is possible, but we are stucked in the 19th century diesel technology. Good night. Based on my quick skim of the article on diesel's it appears that there are measures being taken to make the exhaust cleaner than gas, is that not the case? Better mileage and better or equal ommissions = better for the environment.
