Does anyone know if a Chevy Dealer will work on an H3 (like engine repairs while traveling in area w/o a Hummer dealership) even if they are NOT a Hummer Dealer??

Since it is a Chevy engine I was wondering.

It depends on the dealer. If you are talking engine work, they probably will -- as you noted it's a standard GM engine. They have access to the Hummer tech manuals online, but likely will not have any Hummer unique parts.

Thanks

I was just thinking about emergency parts and repairs in the boonies when on a trip....

The H3 shares only 10% parts with the Canyon and Colorado, so I'd check with the Chevy dealer before you go breaking stuff.

Yes, they will if there is not a Hummer dealer within a reasonable distance (50 miles). It is a new policy allowing cross vehicle lines to perform warranty repairs in emergencies.

well that's good to know if you're in the middle of Montana.

Great News on Warranty Repairs.

I'm not to worried about breaking major stuff but more like electronics on engine, water pumps, sensors etc?

They should. I live about 3 hours from the nearest hummer dealership. We have two GM dealerships in the city. The first one refused to do warranty work until I spoke with the owner...he straightened that out right away. The other, haven't had any problems with. The only issue is that they are not that familiar with the hummers....so don't be surprised if they don't seem to know what they're doing at first. They should be able to get instructions and such from corporate or whatever... I've found that comparing with other owner's experiences (like this board) will usually help me in explaining what needs to be done....Otherwise, it's just "normal" to them

They might be afraid to touch it as it is so new, but soon they will be all over and I predict as popular as Jeeps.
