Hi Folks,

Sounds crazy but I can not get headlights and
driving light (little ones in the bumber) to
stay on together. During the day the little on come on but a night automatic light sensor swithches to headlight. I want them both to be on. Or GM didn't think of that. Just one at the
time.

Help!! Is there any mods to keep them both on.

You need to run the jumper...

It is not much light, But I like the look. I went the switch route. Under the dash a switch will on or off the lights.

yeah, the bottom ones were designed as DRLs. I do like the looks of having them on. Not sure what a jumper is, but that pic looks good. mac, you are a strange man with strange treasure maps...

This is the setup I went with, just don't have them installed yet. Right now I have the stock DRL's coming on with the headlights. Broke some legs off the stock DRL relay so that it does not come on in the daytime though.

Re: Headlights and driving Light together ON ?

OK, I ran the jumper from this old post and now my headlights are on all the time, even in the day. I was hoping to be able to manually select all lights on with this jumper instead of it being automatic. Are there any other automatic headlight sensors than the one in the dash in front of the passenger seat? I'm going to go out and check my jumper wire again.

Re: Headlights and driving Light together ON ?

The diagram is correct. On auto, only your DRL's should be on in the daytime and both on at night. Check your pin positions again. You should be able to check by manually switching between parking on and headlights on to make sure you've wired it correctly. Unless something is covering your light sensor (or of it's bad), you should be in good shape. Good luck. Thanks...

I like that look. I opened the fuse cover and found the fuses in question. For those of us who are electrically challenged, when you say jumper - did you use a wire with alligator lips on both ends or solder the wire in and what gauge wire should you use? Could you just do this with alligator clips and a wire?

Guys, you need to learn to use the search button.

DRL

Check out the 3rd or 4th thread....

Re: Headlights and driving Light together ON ?

OK, I did it EXACTLY like it is pictured and now my DRL AND headlights are on all the time even in the day and I have to manually select daytime on my nav or the screen stays nightime black because in the auto mode it senses the headlights are on. I think something has changed the way they wire the newer H2 models from the days of this old post. When I remove the wire things go back to normal with only DRLs during the day.

Re: Headlights and driving Light together ON ?

You need to put the diode in your jumper wire. I cannot remember what diode I used but if you search the forum you will find the model to use.

The diode acts as a one way gate for current. With out it your DRL's are on during the day and your jumper wire is energising your Headlight relay and turning them on. The diodes are directional. So you put it in your jumper line and face the silver stripe on the diode toward the DRL relay. That way current can only go from the Headlamps to the DRL's and not flow back.

Thanks Crush
that's exactly what I needed.

I was in St. Louis this noonish and stopped in Lynch and they did it for $50! They put a toggle switch under the dash next to the light switch so I can defeat the automatic system and select headlights only, DRLs only, or both at the same time. Lots of H1s in their service bays.
